BISG Annual Meeting 2004

• Meeting Highlights

The Book Industry Study Group, Inc. celebrated another successful year at their 2004 Annual Meeting of Members. Over 130 attendees joined Executive Director, Jeff Abraham, for the presentation of his Executive Director's Report detailing the accomplishments of BISG and its various committees for Fiscal Year 2004.

• New BISG Chair Joe Gonnella presented the nominations for Directors and Officers.
• Jan Nathan, Chair of the Finance Committee, presented the financial statements and approved budget for Fiscal Year 2005.
• John McParland of McGladrey & Pullen presented the audited financial statements.
• Kevin Spall, Chair of the Policy Committee, and Jim Lichtenberg, Chair of NTIG, presented the approval draft of BISG Policy #002, RFID Privacy Principles.

The group reconvened after lunch for a Special Members Only Session on the ISBN-13, 2005 Sunrise, and the EAN/UPC Transition. Our panel of experts for this session included:

• BISAC Chair Wendell Lotz
• Internet Commerce (ICC) Committee Chair Eric Throndson
• Machine Readable Coding (MRC) Committee Chair Tom Clarkson
• BISG Task Force Chairs John Bohman and Fritz Foy

The speakers shared valuable insight on next steps in regards to the changes in book identifiers. Also presented and approved during the Special Session was BISG Policy #003: EDI Migration to the ISBN-13. Lastly, membership proudly approved Implementation Timelines relating to ISBN-13 and 2005 Sunrise readiness.
