Leon McGinnis
 Gwaltney Professor of Manufacturing Systems, Georgia Institute of Tech.
In the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Professor McGinnis teaches and leads research in the areas of manufacturing systems, warehousing, and material handling systems, focusing on fundamental representation problems, analytical models, and computational tools for performance assessment and prediction, and system design and configuration. He is the founding Director of the Keck Virtual Factory Lab, which is a focal point for this research in the School. Professor McGinnis has supervised or co-supervised 17 PhD graduates, including a dean of engineering, two academic department heads, and a CEO of a major logistics firm.

Professor McGinnis is the author, co-author or editor of eight books, 45 archival journal papers, and more than 100 conference papers. Since 1990, he has been involved in more than 100 conference presentations, and given more than forty invited seminars world-wide. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, which also has recognized his work with the Outstanding Publication Award in 1987 and the David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award in 1998. He is a recipient of the Reed-Apple Award from the Material Handling Education Foundation, and was recognized by Materials Handling Management Magazine as a “2003 Material Handling Innovation Pioneer” for creating a novel web-based warehouse performance assessment and benchmarking tool.
