BookExpo America 2005

Thank you to everyone who helped make our sessions at this year's BookExpo America a success. Our four sessions, Making Market Research Pay, Distribution: Toward Effective Practices That Impact Your Bottom Line and two sessions on the newly published ISBN-13 For Dummies®, were well attended and offered a  unique opportunity for BEA attendees to hear leading retailers, wholesalers and distributors reveal the best practices behind their success.

Making Market Research Pay

Session Description: Book industry research comes from many sources. If you’ve ever wondered how publishers and wholesalers find relevant research and apply it to making profitable business decisions, this was the panel for you. During this session, researchers, publishers and wholesalers revealed how they use market research to increase efficiency and profitability. Book Industry TRENDS 2005, one of the most comprehensive book industry research guides available, and Simba’s Book Publishing Report, a weekly source of analysis and trends on the U.S. book market, were featured.

Distribution: Toward Effective Practices that Impact Your Bottom Line

Session Description:  The time is now for booksellers, publishers, distributors and other members of the book industry to implement business practices to better serve their customers and marketplace. Companies that have adopted standardized activities to communicate with their trading partners are reporting high efficiencies.  During this session, panel members shared insight into the best practice standards used by many members of the supply chain. Topics included product identification, data quality, warehouse efficiency, shipping labels and other savvy ways of working toward lowering your costs while still growing your business.

ISBN-13 For Dummies®

Session Description: Held twice during BEA, this session was designed for anyone who's ever wondered...

Why is the ISBN-13 transition happening?
Who’s behind it?
What does your company need to know?
What — exactly — will change?
What will remain the same?
When should I start worrying?
