Raising the Standard of Product Information: BISG’s New Certification Program for Publishers, Booksellers, and Distributors

It's a fact—good product information sells books! BISG has developed a Product Data Certification Program that aims to help publishers deliver accurate and standards-compliant product information to trading partners.  Attendees at this session heard from those directly involved in the Certification Program and saw some of the tangible benefits of creating a more profitable supply chain through the use of good data.

Digital Books and the Standards for Identifying, Describing, and Trading Them

As the digital supply chain develops, important work is underway to set standards for identifying and describing digital publications and for searching and retrieving book content online.  BISG was pleased to present industry experts discussing some of the newest standards in this important area.

BISG participated in an important and topical session sponsored by Green Press Initiative. The session explored data from the recent study, Environmental Trends and Climate Impacts: Findings from the U.S. Book Industry, co-published by BISG and GPI.

Bridging the Gap between Publishers and Libraries: Standards to Help Manage Licenses

As delivery of information moves to a digital environment, libraries’ use of publisher content is increasingly governed by licenses. Managing rights and requirements is a growing burden and can impact how quickly and easily content can be accessed and purchased.  This session explored how publishing and library communities are cooperating in a number of initiatives to make information about contractual rights and responsibilities easier to access, understand, and use.
