Mark Suchomel

President, Independent Publishers Group


Mark Suchomel is the President of Independent Publishers Group (IPG), a position he has held since 1998. Previously he was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at IPG. Based in Chicago, IPG represents more than 50 general trade publishers and more than 300 niche independent presses, selling their titles to the book trade as well as teacher supply stores, museum shops, mass merchandisers, gift shops, and other specialty wholesale and retail accounts. In addition to those in the U.S. and Canada, IPG represents publishers from Ireland, Australia, Israel, England, France, Spain, New Zealand, Mexico, and elsewhere.

 

In 2000, Mr. Suchomel  was named by Publishers Weekly as one of the “Eleven for the Millennium,” those who will most likely have impact on change in the publishing industry in the next millennium. He holds a B.A. in English Writing and Economics and Business Administration from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He lives in River Forest, Illinois, with his wife and two daughters.
