Andrew Weber was attending Harvard Business School when he made the acquaintance of Bertelsmann and Bantam Doubleday Dell executives and decided to join the publishing company. He was dispatched to the BDD Chicago distribution center where he was put in charge of process analysis, and became an important contributor to introducing a new warehousing system (SAP) and reorganizing the warehouse along with the entire distribution process. He transferred to NY after one and a half years, where he helped roll out the SAP system and simplify workflow. He led the integration of all BDD and Random House, Inc. systems operations, including the expansion of the Random House distribution center in Westminster, Maryland into a state-of-the art facility. There are some 1200 employees under his direction. He is now Senior VP, Operations and Technology, supervising all aspects of book production, inventory, distribution, fulfillment and Information Technology. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Book Industry Study Group's Board of Directors.
