At the BISG
Annual Meeting of Members, over 140 book industry professionals from
across the supply chain gathered to discuss new research, emerging
trends and exciting new possibilities.
This year's meeting featured an excellent lineup of guest speakers,
including Professor Anita Elberse from Harvard Business School,
presenting the latest thinking about the long tail in publishing, and
an overview of the new standard, the International Standard Text Code
(ISTC), from Andy Weissberg of R.R. Bowker. Susan Danziger, CEO of
DailyLit, gave an overview of challenges posed by changes in reading
habits in the digital age, and Mike Shatzkin, CEO of Idea Logical
Company, presented a preview of a project, co-sponsored by BISG,
highlighting the value of XML to the publishing process.
