PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Like transformations in printing and marketing, the impact of digital technology on publishing is putting distribution in a whole new light. At one end of the spectrum, there are publishers who outsource fulfillment to retailers and customers. And at the other end, there is almost complete disintermediation, as publishers (and authors) go directly to retailers and customers, especially with electronic product.
As was the case with ongoing transformations in printing, the broad spectrum of possible functions provides opportunities for publishers to customize a distribution architecture that works best for them. The increasingly "bespoke" nature of distribution allows publishers to create new business models, new efficiencies, and new patterns of retailer and customer relations, moving toward goals like just-in-time inventory and publishing in a global dimension.
Join us for this 60-minute BISG Webcast as industry leaders Rick Joyce, Chief Marketing Officer at Perseus Books Group and Marcella Smith of Marcella Smith Associates (formerly with Barnes & Noble) provide valuable insight into the changes in distribution, and how publishers can mold these changes to significantly improve efficiencies, revenue, profits and customer relations.
Of interest to: senior management, distribution and manufacturing, marketing, editorial, and rights
This webcast will be hosted by Jim Lichtenberg, President, Lightspeed, LLC.
