Understanding and correctly implementing the 31 core metadata elements is a must for publishers that want stronger results in online discoverability and better working relationships with the digital and traditional supply chains.

He believes that publishers can find cheap and cheerful solutions to supply chain data needs.

Richard Stark is the Director of Product Data at Barnes & Noble. Since 1999 he has chaired the BISG/BISAC Metadata Committee. Mr. Stark has been a leader in the development of many book industry standards and practices, including ONIX, the ISBN standard, and BISG's Product Metadata Best Practices.
