Fonts for E-Books Working Group Mandate
Now that reading systems and devices are more sophisticated, with greater memory and processing power, greater design quality and complexity for ebooks are becoming the norm. And with that comes the desire to use more sophisticated and varied fonts. At the same time, publishers and other content providers need to be aware of font licenses and usage restrictions.
BISG's Fonts for Ebooks Working Group provides education and guidance in obtaining, managing, and using fonts for ebooks, with a particular emphasis on EPUB 3. Chaired by Steve Kotrch, Director of Publishing Technology at Simon & Schuster, the Working Group will offer practical guidance and best practices for industry use in the form of FAQs, white papers, and web posts.
