ISBN-13: For Publishers....

Notification to Accounts/Industry Partners

Submissions to Library of Congress in ISBN-13 format began in October 2004.

Transmissions of data to trading partners (new book titles, changes to book titles, ASN) must be converted to ISBN-13. Partners will implement by January 1, 2007, or as both are ready.

Publishers should be ready to transmit in both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 as quickly as possible (as early as January 1, 2005) since implementation to ISBN-13 will vary by account. Publishers must be fully ISBN-13 compliant by January 1, 2007.

Transmissions of data from accounts (orders) must be converted to ISBN-13. Partners will implement by January 1, 2007, or as both are ready.

Publishers should be ready to transmit in both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 as quickly as possible (as early as January 1, 2005) since implementation to ISBN-13 will vary by account. Publishers must be fully ISBN-13 compliant by January 1, 2007.
