BISG's Identification Committee monitors, reviews and develops best practices for the use of identifier standards in the book industry. It also contributes to the development of emerging identifier standards and the implementation of new ones.

Identification of E-Books Working Group

In the spring of 2010, BISG's Identification Committee created the Identification of E-Books Working Group to research and gather data around the practice of assigning identifiers to digital book products throughout the US supply chain. The specific mandate of the Working Group is to gather a true picture of how the US book supply chain is handling ISBN assignments, then formulate best practice recommendations based on this pragmatic, research-based understanding.

The Working Group is expected to publish best practices recommendations for identifying digital content in November 2011.
