The Book Industry Study Group, Inc. (BISG) is a non-profit voluntary organization focusing on standards and research.

For years BISG has been a key resource for publishing professionals in every facet of the book industry. BISG has led the way in setting industry standards and conducting vital industry research on behalf of publishers, retailers, libraries and vendors. Our member-driven organization uniquely represents all segments of our industry—from publishers and e-publishers, to paper manufacturers, libraries, authors, printers, wholesalers, retailers and e-tailers as well as organizations concerned with the book community as a whole.

We believe that every organization with a stake in the changing industry standards (such as ISBN-13 and EAN 13/14) and with interest in building and maintaining more efficient trading-partner relationships - should be a member of BISG and an active participant in our various committees.
