PRESS RELEASE

ONIX Users Directory Now Available on the BISG Website

Close to 50 companies currently listed in the book industry's first online directory of ONIX users

New York, NY (December 16, 2005) -- In an ongoing effort to provide the latest information about ONIX (Online Information Exchange) and its users, the Book Industry Study Group, Inc. (BISG) has launched a new ONIX Users Directory to serve as a central location for up-to-date information on the companies that use ONIX.

ONIX is a standard format used by publishers to distribute electronic information about their books to wholesale and retail booksellers, other publishers, and anyone else involved in the sale of books. By providing a standard for exchanging book information (i.e., cover design, synopsis, reviews, author biography, etc), ONIX offers members of the book industry a convenient, cost effective and universally accepted format for simplifying title data transfers between trading partners.

Research has shown that the more information customers have about a book, the more likely they are to buy it.

"ONIX usage is growing everyday," commented Jeff Abraham, Executive Director of BISG. "The new ONIX Users Directory will pull registered companies into a central repository so that the full extent of ONIX usage can be determined and mined. The ONIX Users Directory will help facilitate the exchange of data between ONIX using trading partners worldwide."

Current directory participants include: Baker & Taylor, Barnes & Noble, National Book Network, Library of Congress, RR Bowker, Ingram Book Group, John Wiley & Sons, Quality Solutions and many others.

To include your company in the ONIX Users Directory visit the BISG website.
