Book Industry Study Group Launches Membership Drive
Book Industry Study Group today announced a focused effort to reach out to members of the industry in order to broadly expand its ranks. Lead by members of the BISG Board of Directors, this new initiative is aimed at all book-industry-related companies that desire to enhance their competitive standing in today's market place. BISG Board of Directors member Jean Srnecz, (job title and company) will lead the new Membership Committee.
"As a member-driven organization, BISG is unique among associations in that or members represents all segments of our value chain", says Charles Benante, (title) and chair of the BISG Board. "BISG fills a leadership role in areas related to EDI standards and BISAC Category Codes," notes Smecz, "All of which allow for speedier and less costly communication and transactions between industry trading partners. Reaching out to new members will allow companies a way to participate in creating new standards for the industry and in decision-making processes that add value to their business operations."
In addition to the standards and technology area, BISG is a leader in providing research reports and market intelligence used by industry planners. "Member companies and organizations include publishers, and e-publishers, paper manufacturers, libraries, wholesalers, retailers, and e-tailers, technology companies, freight companies as well as universities, research organizations and others concerned with the book world as a whole", says Jeff Abraham, Executive Director of BISG. Interested companies and organizations can contact Abraham for more information.
