Industry Data: Power Tools for a Stronger Bottom Line

Who's Setting the Standards?

The book industry - publishers, wholesalers, retailers and other suppliers are moving closer and closer to establishing standards that will effect all members of the industry. Standards offer excellent opportunities for companies to communicate and exchange data across the entire supply chain. Are you using industry standards to increase efficiency and reduce costs? Who is setting the standards and what standards should you be using to run your business more effectively?

Panelists, representing various segments of the book industry convened for nearly two hours on June 3, 2004 to discuss standards including: Changes to book identifiers such as ISBN-13 and EAN bar codes, ONIX, BISAC Subject Codes as well as standards in shipping labels and in the areas of printing and production.
