JAMES LICHTENBERG
President, Lightspeed, LLC
James Lichtenberg has worked in, and written about, the publishing industry and e-business
strategy for almost 15 years. From 1993 to 1996, he served as vice president of the Higher
Education Division of the Association of American Publishers, before founding the consulting
company, Lightspeed, LLC. As part of his activities as a board member of the Book Industry
Study Group he serves as chair of the New Technology Interest Group, and is involved with
emerging technologies and standards development. He is a regular contributor on technology
to Publishers Weekly, PMA Newsletter and other publishing journals, and runs the eBusiness
Strategy, and eBusiness Technology, Councils for The Conference Board.
A graduate of Harvard College, his articles on marketing, technology, culture, and educational
policy have also appeared in The New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The EDUCOM
Review, Change, Market Trends, and the Journal of Contemporary Business.
He is also a member of the Open eBook Forum, the Small Press Center, and the New York
Academy of Sciences.
