In addition, the report provides a unique carbon footprint and forest growth model for the U.S. book industry, along with interesting case studies of companies making strides toward green business models.Publication BackgroundIn 2007, BISG and Green Press Initiative (GPI), with support from a number of industry sponsors, produced an environmental benchmarking survey that was sent out to over 1000 book industry stakeholders. These included representatives from book publishers, retailers, distribution companies, printers and paper mills. With the help of the Borealis Centre for Environment and Trade Research, the survey results were then compiled and analyzed and presented as part of this report.Publication SponsorsSponsoring organizations are nationally recognized as supporters of a pioneering research effort aimed at tracking progress in the U.S. book industry toward more environment-friendly practices.Champions
