To help content creators and executives make decisions in the rapidly evolving world of digital publishing -- with its myriad devices and reading systems -- BISG, through its Content Structure Committee has developed the EPUB 3 Support Grid. Recognizing the constantly shifting nature of digital publishing, the Content Structure Committee plans to continuously update the Grid.

The Grid is designed to be a handy reference to what enhancements and features of the recently released EPUB 3 are usable on which device, app, and reading system. The Grid was created and filled in by industry experts representing leading publishers, service providers, and technology vendors. See below for a list of participating companies.

We want to hear from you!

Industry feedback is critical to keeping the Grid accurate and up-to-date. So we hope you'll join the dialogue and send in your comments and suggestions for improving and enhancing the Grid. Send your feedback to info@bisg.org.

Notes on the Grid:

  • The EPUB 3.0 Support Grid is intended to provide a useful resource for publishers and their suppliers who would like to know the degree to which EPUB 3 is supported across different apps, devices, and reading systems.
  • The EPUB functionality listed in Column B of the Grid is only a subset of what is currently available in EPUB 3. BISG's Content Structure Committee is tasked with ensuring the functionality tracked here is of importance to the general book industry.
  • Information not provided by the vendors of the represented reading systems and devices, but was instead provided by industry experts and users, is indicated as such on the Grid. BISG makes no claims to speak on behalf of the vendors in these cases.
  • Although best efforts are made to update the EPUB 3 Support Grid monthly, BISG does not claim it to be completely correct at any particular time. The Grid was most recently updated on November 19, 2012.
