Book Metadata & ONIX: Practical Guidence and Best Practice
A Full-Day Training Session -- Limited to 30 Attendees
March 4, 2013 | 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. | New York City

Product Metadata Best Practices were developed and are revised by BISG's Metadata Committee. They provide detailed instruction on improving the accuracy of data throughout the supply chain in order to speed data processing between trading partners.

UPDATE: In late August 2012, BISG's Metadata Committee started on a revision of its Product Metadata Best Practices, combining recommendations for both data senders and receivers in one handbook. The revision is designed to enable better support for digital products and the use of marketing data points for increased discovery. The revision will also feature usage tips and links for ONIX 3.0. It's expected that the revised Best Practices will be available for industry use in March 2013.

Part of the Metadata Committee's work to revise the Best Practices was informed by the findings from BISG's research on The Development, Use, and Modification of Book Product Metadata, which mapped the flow of metadata across the publishing supply chain.
