![]()
This is a chance to connect, unwind, and celebrate together, whether you work at a publisher, distributor, manufacturer, retailer, marketing or publicity firm, a literary agency or in the library space.
Come make new friends and learn more about BISG, the only book publishing organization with members from every segment of our industry.
As we mark our 50th anniversary, we’ll reflect on BISG's mission of addressing issues concerning two or more segments of our supply chain, finding solutions, setting standards, sharing best practices, and creating collaborations that have strengthened our industry. Now, we’re exploring what comes next!
Please share with colleagues—the more the merrier!
We hope to see you in Chicago!
Kasey’s Tavern is located in the Printer’s Row neighborhood in the South Loop of Downtown Chicago. The Printing House Row District is recognized as a National Historic Landmark District, protecting the architecture of specific buildings in the area for their historical significance. In 1996, the district was also designated a Chicago Landmark. — In the Great Wide
Kasey’s Tavern was a favorite of the workers who labored in the neighborhood when Printers Row still was home to publishers and printing houses galore. At that time, Kasey’s was open from the early hours until dusk to cater to the typesetters working the night shift. It is still open late (3am on Saturdays) and fairly early (11am)...
At the turn of the twentieth century, printing companies, pulp and paper companies, engravers, lithographers, publishers of catalogs and typesetters were based in Printers Row, including such prominent businesses as R. R. Donnelly & Sons, publisher of the Yellow Pages. (The neighborhood was also referred to as Printing House Row. A ghost sign—Great City Living-Fine Stores and Restaurants, it proclaims—is still visible on the side of the building at the corner of Harrison and Ida B. Wells Drive.) — "History in a Bottle. Or Two. Everyone Is Family at Kasey’s Tavern" by June Sawyers | October 16, 2024
