Capacity Planning: Leading Indicators and Best Practices
A Supply Chain Lunch & Learn
Managing inventory and production has become a balancing act—across technologies, geographies, and service-level expectations.
This July Lunch & Learn will take a holistic look at how production capacity, printing technologies, and inventory strategies interact, and how publishers can align them to build greener, more secure, and more agile supply chains.
Topics will include:
- The evolving universe of printing options—domestic and overseas, conventional and digital
- How different inventory strategies work in practice: POD, microstock, economic ordering, automated replenishment, and out-of-stock protection
- Trading off printing technologies against inventory risk, cost, and service levels
- Making global POD and distributed sourcing work, including split warehousing and print-to-inventory models
- The operational foundations required to support these strategies, including file management, PO systems, and distribution workflows
Designed as an interactive, strategy-focused discussion, this session will help participants connect the dots between capacity realities and inventory decisions, offering practical insight into how these models can be combined to support future-ready supply chains that are flexible, resilient, and efficient.
As with all BISG Supply Chain Lunch & Learns, the session will be participatory, with time for questions, shared experiences, and real-world examples.
Featured speakers to be announced!
About the Supply Chain Lunch & Learn Series
BISG's Supply Chain Lunch & Learns are always highly interactive, so you'll have a chance to contribute at the session. If you have any specific questions you'd like us to cover in this Lunch & Learn, you may send them in advance to info@bisg.org or simply add them to the chat during the session.
To allow participants to speak—and not just type questions—these sessions are conducted in a Zoom meeting (rather than webinar) format. Please take a moment to ensure that your microphone is muted until you'd like to contribute. While we encourage you to attend the live session, the conversation will be recorded and shared with registrants after the session takes place.
