At its annual meeting in April, BISG led a four-part conversation around "Transforming Supply Chain Communication." The four components included: forecasting, covered again in the August brown-bag lunch series; the publishing data stack; the publishing tech stack; and other markets where the supply chain operates in different and more advantageous ways.

This session, led by BISG executive director Brian O'Leary, covers ways in which the data stack in book publishing struggles to keep up with evolving industry demands. The brown-bag lunch will recap what was discussed in April, identifying changes that could move the book business to a better data model. Participants will be asked to share their own use cases, instances in which they struggle to address business requirements with existing processes and data sets.

Please come ready to engage in a discussion. After a 20 minute presentation, there will be an open forum. To allow participants to speak -- and not just type questions -- these sessions are conducted in a Zoom meeting (rather than webinar) format. Please ensure that your microphone is muted unless you'd like to contribute.

Please note: Unlike most BISG programming, this session will not be recorded. We've made this decision in order for participants to feel comfortable speaking openly about issues of concern. BISG may share unattributed notes after the session.
