Ten years after the introduction of EPUB 3, many publishers still have deep backlists of EPUB 2 ebooks. Remediation of such older titles can be a complicated issue for all publishers, especially those with less staff and resources. And yet, upgrading EPUB files to more recent standards is essential to keeping your ebooks onsale. Newer versions of EPUB have accessibility features that older standards lack, support real page numbers and richer navigation, among other improvements.

How can publishers make decisions on what books to upgrade to and on what timeline? Are there methods to make some of the work easier? Liisa McCloy-Kelley,  SVP of Digital Product Development & Operations at Penguin Random House will answer these questions and more, presenting some helpful tips for those struggling with the process. Even taking into account that different books present different challenges, and that there are likely more exceptions than rules, publishers should not feel overwhelmed with the process. With the EPUB standard continuing to advance, and a new version on the horizon, keeping backlists updated will be an ongoing process. Join this webinar for some insights that are relevant now and for the future.
