EUDR Essentials for Publishers: Understanding and Responding to the Regulation

The European Union’s upcoming Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) is set to take effect in December 2025 (June 2026 for micro or small businesses), with the goal of reducing global deforestation and land degradation.
This new legislation impacts a wide range of commodities, including wood-based products such as paper — which means print books are impacted. Canadian publishers exporting to the EU will soon be required to prove that their products meet strict sourcing and sustainability standards.
In this timely and informative webinar tailored for Canadian publishers, Jarin Pintana, of the Green Book Alliance, will break down what you need to know about:
- The scope and implications of the EUDR;
- What it means for publishers, distributors, and retailers inside and outside the EU;
- The critical need for transparent data collection and traceability in raw material sourcing;
- Essential terms, deadlines, and compliance timelines; and
- How to enhance ONIX metadata to share key information required under the regulation.
Jarin will be joined by experts from Book Industry Communication (BIC), the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), and BookNet Canada (BNC) — the founding partners of the Green Book Alliance — to answer your questions and help you navigate the road to EUDR compliance with confidence.
The Green Book Alliance is an alliance between the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), Book Industry Communication (BIC), and BookNet Canada (BNC) committed to improving sustainability in the book publishing supply chain.
Given the global nature of environmental stewardship and the book publishing industry, it makes sense to collaborate on green initiatives. GBA aims to be a leader and global facilitator in this endeavor.
Founded in September of 2020, all three organizations welcome support from other international bodies that may be interested in contributing. The international GBA grows its agenda in concert with its members and national book communities.
