Reimagining Publishing Workflows with AI

Book publishing is a human endeavor, but it includes a number of repetitive and increasingly complex components. Across the supply chain, companies are looking for ways to do more, reliably, without overly burdening the staff they rely on to make our industry work.

To address some of these challenges, Adam Hyde has been working on pure.science, an AI-powered toolkit that allows publishers to build intelligent, no-code workflows for publishing and research. The product has been designed to orchestrate systems, automate decisions, and deploy AI agents for tasks like accessibility checks, citation validation, and research discovery — or anything else a workflow needs. When implemented, pure.science offers researchers and publishing teams full control over powerful automation — the ability to cut costs, move faster, and stay flexible.

Adam brings publishing and technical leadership as well as pioneering insights into publishing workflows and technologies. Adam serves as technical advisor for the OA Switchboard project, holds a seat on the Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) Management Board, and is a co-founder of the Coalition for Open Access Publishing Infrastructure in Africa project.
