With billions of AI-generated images or other manipulated content online, discerning real from fabricated content is a significant challenge for users and platforms – especially when a trusted source is missing. Creators and rightsholders struggle to distinguish their genuine, human-created works from an overwhelming flood of AI-generated content.

There is growing concern in various publishing markets about illegitimate and potentially fraudulent content listings on book retail platforms. Books in printed and ebook formats are offered and sold by potentially fake accounts, entities that are not the original rights holders of the content they offer).

In this webinar, you'll learn about the potential benefits of deploying the International Standard Content Code (ISCC) for published products. These benefits include:

  • Swift identification of potentially illegitimate and fraudulent content listings
  • Faster response through prompt takedown notices
  • Eventually, prevention of illegitimate content listings

Panelists include Sebastian Posth, co-initiator of the ISCC and co-founder and member of director’s board of the ISCC Foundation. He also served as the convenor of an ISO evaluation of the ISCC. An entrepreneur and consultant on digital innovation projects in the media industries, he is currently building Liccium.com and working on the EU-funded CreatorCredentials.com project.

Posth will be joined by Liisa McCloy-Kelley, SVP, Director Ebook Development and Operations at Penguin Random House. McCloy-Kelley also serves as co-head of the Publishing Business Group of the W3C, overseeing efforts that include its Anti-Counterfeit Task Force. That task force is discussing potential countermeasures and approaches, setting up potential collaborations with retailers, and raising awareness of challenges and opportunities, ahead of drafting a community report.
