Our goal is to provide and maintain a neutral forum for discussion and collaboration, helping to create a thriving and dynamic ecosystem that supports a diversity of voices and perspectives in publishing and beyond.

One of the ways we do this is by developing industry-wide standards and best practices. This includes issuing board-adopted policies and resolutions, as well as conducting research to inform the industry as a whole.

Policy

The BISG Board of Directors releases policy statements — including resolutions and positions — addressing and advising on issues critical to the industry. These range from best practices for identifying digital products to the elimination of dual identifiers on books and more.

Research

One of our core objectives is to conduct research that informs and impacts the book industry. An information hub, our research archives are available to anyone who wants to access it with content ranging from consumer behavior and white papers to sales data and industry issues and trends, most stemming from the dedicated work of our committees.
