The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) is pleased to welcome Cynren Press as a new member.

Founded in 2017, Cynren Press is an independent publisher of history, culture, and experience. Through its imprints, it curates human stories that deepen readers’ understanding of us. Cynren titles are distributed to the trade by Independent Publishers Group (IPG).

"We joined BISG because metadata, accessibility, discoverability, and standards shape how human stories are found, understood, and carried forward," said Holly Thesieres Monteith, founder and publisher of Cynren Press. "We want to be part of those conversations."

Before founding Cynren Press, Monteith spent fifteen years in publishing and built a career spanning editorial, production, marketing, and distribution. Today, she oversees all aspects of the publishing process, guiding books from acquisition through publication while advancing the press's mission of publishing works that help readers better understand themselves and one another.

"We're delighted to welcome Cynren Press to the BISG community," said Matt Kennell, Chair of the BISG Board of Directors. "Independent publishers bring an entrepreneurial mindset and fresh perspectives that strengthen our industry and enrich the work of BISG committees and working groups. We are always excited to see more small and mid-sized presses engage with BISG's research, standards, and collaborative initiatives, and we look forward to the contributions Cynren Press will make to our community."

"Cynren Press's commitment to ensuring that important stories can be discovered, accessed, and shared aligns closely with BISG's mission," said Brian O'Leary, Executive Director of BISG. "We look forward to welcoming Holly and her team into the BISG community and to the perspectives they will bring to our ongoing work."

BISG welcomes organizations of all sizes and specialties from across the publishing ecosystem. Members gain access to industry research, educational programming, standards development, networking opportunities, and collaborative forums that help address shared challenges and opportunities throughout the supply chain.
