EBSCO Information Services Joins Book Industry Study Group
The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) is pleased to welcome EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) as its newest member.

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) serves libraries and research institutions around the world with research databases, library technology, e-books, subscription management, book acquisition services, and discovery solutions. By helping connect publishers, libraries, and readers through trusted content and innovative technologies, EBSCO supports research, learning, and access to information.
Since its beginnings as a subscription agency, EBSCO has grown into one of the world's leading providers of library and information services, continuing to invest in technologies and partnerships that strengthen libraries and support the evolving needs of their communities.
"Libraries are an essential part of the book ecosystem, and EBSCO has been a trusted partner to libraries around the world for decades," said Allison Belan, Executive Director of BISG. "Their expertise in metadata, discovery, accessibility, and information services brings an important perspective to our member community, and we're excited to welcome them to BISG.”
"The publishing industry is strongest when we work together to address shared challenges, establish common standards, and support the long-term health of the scholarly ecosystem. BISG has long played an important role in bringing stakeholders together around these goals,” said Jon Elwell, Senior Vice President of EBSCO Books.
“Through GOBI, EBSCO eBooks, and Mosaic, we help connect publishers and libraries worldwide, supporting the discovery, acquisition, and management of scholarly content while helping shape the future of book acquisition,” he continued. “We're excited to join BISG, contribute our expertise, and collaborate with industry leaders to help advance the standards and best practices that will strengthen scholarly publishing for years to come."
EBSCO's commitment to innovation extends beyond its products and services. The company actively supports open access initiatives, contributes to open-source library technology projects, and works closely with partners across the information community to improve research outcomes and access to knowledge.
Accessibility is a core focus of EBSCO's product development strategy. The company continues to enhance its platforms to meet evolving accessibility standards while preparing customers for regulatory requirements such as ADA Title II and the European Accessibility Act. These efforts align closely with BISG's ongoing work to advance accessibility throughout the publishing supply chain.
EBSCO also considers sustainability in its day-to-day operations through ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary resource use, and work with partners that share its commitment to environmental responsibility.
“BISG is at its best when every part of the supply chain is represented at the table," Belan added. "We look forward to working with EBSCO and our broader membership to advance standards, improve discoverability and accessibility, and help the industry solve shared challenges together."
