Get to Know Your Board: Meet BISG's New Directors

The Book Industry Study Group's membership elected five new members to the BISG Board of Directors during the April 2026 Town Hall, with their terms beginning July 1.

Representing libraries, publishers, and industry partners, these leaders bring deep expertise across editorial, production, metadata, sales operations, manufacturing, workflow, and the broader publishing supply chain.

This year's incoming directors include both longtime BISG volunteers and first-time board members—a reflection of the many pathways to leadership within the organization. Several have already helped shape BISG's work through committees and working groups, while others bring fresh perspectives from across the industry.

Together, their experience and commitment to collaboration will help guide BISG as we continue developing standards, solving shared challenges, and strengthening the connections that keep the book publishing supply chain moving forward.

As the first installment in our three-part Get to Know Your Board series, we're introducing the five directors beginning their first terms on the Board: Stephanie H. Anderson, Samantha ("Sam") Cohen, Ann Dye, Claire Holloway, and Jack Stevens.

Stephanie H. Anderson
Associate Director, Selection; BookOps (The New York Public Library & Brooklyn Public Library)

Stephanie H. Anderson is Associate Director, Selection at BookOps, the shared technical services organization serving The New York Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library. She leads the team responsible for selecting and ordering materials in every format and more than 25 languages for the circulating collections of 150 library branches and two digital collections.

Before joining BookOps, Stephanie worked at Darien Library in Connecticut after beginning her career in independent bookselling. She earned her MLIS from Syracuse University, is a founding member of LibraryReads, reviews romance titles for Kirkus Reviews, and serves on BISG's Workflow Committee.

Stephanie's Perspective
Thanks to BISG, I’ve learned so much about the complex, unseen work behind every book I buy for my patrons! Libraries and publishers don’t always speak the same language, and I'm grateful that an organization like BISG can serve as a translator and provide opportunities for us to work together for the benefit of the communities we serve. I’m excited to represent the Library sector on the Board and look for more of those opportunities. 

Samantha ("Sam") Cohen
Vice President, Production Strategy & Operations; Simon & Schuster

Sam Cohen is Vice President of Production Strategy and Operations at Simon & Schuster, where she leads teams spanning managing editorial, art and design, composition, ebook development, prepress, manufacturing, and workflow strategy. Her work focuses on improving production workflows, fostering collaboration across teams, and thoughtfully integrating emerging technologies into publishing operations.

Sam holds a Master's degree in Applied Data Science from the University of Michigan and is an active participant in BISG's Workflow Committee and AI Working Group.

Sam's Perspective
I joined the BISG board because I’m excited to contribute to the industry more broadly and support BISG’s longstanding commitment to understanding publishing through better research and data.

Ann Dye
Vice President, Sales Operations; HarperCollins Publishers

Ann Dye serves as Vice President of Sales Operations at HarperCollins Publishers and brings more than two decades of experience across the publishing industry. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles in marketing, sales, and publishing operations at organizations including Disney, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt/Clarion.

A lifelong book lover, Ann is actively engaged across multiple BISG initiatives, contributing to the Supply Chain, Workflow, and Subject Codes (BISAC) Committees, as well as the AI Working Group.

Ann's Perspective
I joined the BISG board because I greatly respect the organization’s expertise and value in providing best practices and standards across the industry. Our passion in this industry is in the art we have the privilege to publish, but in order to best support our books, having clear, thoughtful guidance across operations, supply chain, metadata, and other core functions of our business are crucial. I’m happy to be a part of such a valuable organization!

Claire Holloway
Senior Manager, Publisher Relations, Business Development; OCLC

Claire Holloway is Senior Manager of Publisher Relations at OCLC and currently chairs BISG's Metadata Committee. Before transitioning to the library community, Claire spent many years in editorial, production, and distribution roles throughout the publishing industry, giving her a unique perspective on connecting publishers, libraries, and readers.

In addition to leading the Metadata Committee, Claire contributes to BISG's Accessibility Working Group, Steering Committee, and Book Publishing Next initiative. She is passionate about metadata, books of every genre, and helping others better understand both.

Claire's Perspective
BISG has shaped my career in ways I never expected. It was while serving on a Metadata Committee working group that I first realized I wanted to pivot toward the Library, which says a lot about the power of BISG to get people from across the industry into the same room! I'm honored to now represent the Library sector on the Board and to help strengthen the connections between publishers, libraries, industry partners, and the readers we all ultimately serve. 

Jack Stevens
President; Woodland Global

Jack Stevens serves as President of Woodland Global, where he oversees U.S. operations and leads teams across multiple locations. Since joining Woodland, he has championed business optimization, digital transformation, and operational excellence, helping publishers navigate an increasingly complex global supply chain.

Jack is an active member of BISG's Supply Chain Committee and has become a trusted voice on logistics, transportation, regulatory developments, and supply chain best practices through his committee work and educational programs.

Jack's Perspective
Whilst only into my third year of BISG membership, having seen the positive and meaningful impact the committees and working groups have, I was drawn to board service to see truly how influential BISG can be. As a vendor (and devoted customer!) to the industry, I hope to bring an outside perspective that complements the existing wealth of industry expertise. 

About BISG’s Board of Directors

BISG's Board of Directors is composed of sixteen seats representing six segments of the book industry supply chain: publishers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, libraries, and industry partners.

Directors serve two-year terms and may be re-elected for one additional term. The current board structure, adopted by the Board and ratified by the membership in 2017, replaced the previous larger at-large board with a more agile governance model designed to strengthen representation across the industry's diverse segments.

The Board provides strategic oversight for the organization, guiding BISG's long-term direction while supporting the work of its staff, five standing committees, and numerous working groups. It also ensures the organization's financial health and continued ability to fulfill its mission of bringing the book publishing supply chain together to solve shared challenges.
