The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) Board of Directors has taken a significant step toward the organization’s future by engaging Jack Farrell & Associates (JFA) to lead the search for BISG’s next Executive Director.

This partnership reflects BISG’s commitment to a rigorous, transparent, and industry-informed hiring process designed to identify a leader who can guide the organization—and the broader book ecosystem—through a period of rapid change and opportunity.

BISG plays a unique and vital role in the publishing world. As a cross-industry membership organization, it brings together publishers, manufacturers, distributors, libraries, retailers, and technology partners to develop standards, research, and best practices that improve how books are created, discovered, distributed, and sold.

With more than 2,800 individual members and 200+ organizations across 25 U.S. states and 10 countries, BISG’s influence extends throughout the global supply chain. Selecting the next Executive Director is therefore not simply an internal staffing decision—it is a leadership choice that will shape how the industry collaborates, innovates, and solves shared challenges for years to come.

The Executive Director serves as BISG’s chief leader and spokesperson, working closely with the Board of Directorscommittees, and members to advance the organization’s mission and long-term growth. Given BISG’s lean team, the role requires someone who can balance vision with executionleading strategic initiatives while ensuring operational excellence.

For professionals passionate about shaping the future of books—and the systems that bring them to readers—this represents a rare opportunity to lead at the center of the global publishing community.
