BISG Names Wiley Inaugural Recipient of Founders Award
The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) today announced Wiley as the inaugural recipient of the BISG Founders Award, an honor recognizing exceptional and sustained organizational commitment to BISG and its mission.
Wiley holds a singular place in BISG’s history: it is the only current member whose membership dates continuously to the organization’s founding in 1976. Over those five decades, Wiley has been far more than a member. Its representatives have contributed their expertise, time, and leadership to BISG’s committees, standards, programs, and collaborative initiatives, helping BISG address shared challenges and strengthen the infrastructure that supports the book publishing industry.
The Founders Award is BISG’s highest recognition of sustained organizational commitment to the association. Unlike BISG’s annual industry awards, it will be presented only when the right organization and moment coincide, recognizing an exceptional record of engagement, partnership, and investment in BISG over time.

The Founders Award will be presented during BISG@50: Book Publishing Next Forum & Anniversary Celebration, taking place September 16 at The New York Historical in New York City. The event brings together industry leaders, rising voices, and longtime collaborators to celebrate five decades of BISG while looking ahead to the future of the book publishing ecosystem.
Wiley joins the other individuals and organizations being honored as part of BISG’s 50th anniversary, including Kris Kliemann, recipient of the Industry Champion Award; the Green Book Alliance, recipient of the Industry Innovator Award; and Skip Dye, recipient of the Sally Dedecker Award for Lifetime Service.
