Frankfurt Rights Meeting 2025: The Place to Be for the Rights and Licensing Community

Announcements,

For over three decades, the Frankfurt Rights Meeting has been the must-attend conference for publishing professionals working with rights and licenses.

Organized by Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH, the event consistently offers insights into the most pressing industry trends and facilitates high-level networking among international publishing leaders. In 2025, the conference will return in a hybrid format, combining the best of digital learning and in-person networking.

A September Full of Insight

The 2025 edition will begin with four virtual sessions on Tuesdays from September 2 to 23
(4–5pm CEST), each focusing on a different aspect of the rapidly evolving rights landscape.

September 2 | The AI Dilemma: Balancing Risks and Opportunities

As generative AI continues to disrupt the industry, this session will address the legal implications, current licensing models, and practical strategies for navigating AI-related rights challenges. Speakers include AI strategist FATIMAH ABBAS (FALA Agency) and CHANTAL RESTIVO-ALESSI (HarperCollins), who will offer both legal and market perspectives.

September 9 | Beyond the Book: Exploring Merchandising Opportunities

Publishing meets merchandising in this deep dive into brand extensions. Industry leaders STEVE MANNERS and MAURA REGAN (both from Licensing International) will share their expertise, covering everything from in-house merchandise to third-party licensing partnerships. Additional speakers will be announced soon.

September 16 | Navigating the Spanish-Language Publishing Markets

From Madrid to Mexico City to Miami, this session will explore regional differences and emerging trends in Spanish-language publishing. Featuring speakers from La Pollera Ediciones, Casanovas & Lynch, Editorial Planeta USA, and Princeton University Press, the panel offers a multifaceted view of licensing in these vibrant markets.

September 23 | Digital Licensing – Sales or Rights?

October 14 | In-Person Reception & Keynote in Frankfurt

The highlight of this year’s hybrid format is the exclusive networking reception and keynote event, taking place at the Frankfurt Studio on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 5–7 pm CEST, the evening before the official start of the Frankfurter Buchmesse.
