Save the Date: Translation Rights Royalty Statement Presentation
The conversation continues—and you're invited to be part of the next chapter.
At BISG, we know that when the publishing process is messy, standards are a great solution. Over the past two years, a BISG Rights Committee working group has researched and outlined a set of best practices and proposed standards related to royalty reporting and contract payment paperwork.
Kris Kliemann, Chair of the BISG Rights Committee, presented a proposed standard for translation rights royalty statements at the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair and the response was clear—this work is needed, and it's long overdue. Since then, we've refined and expanded the proposed standards, and we’re bringing them back to Frankfurt this fall.
Join us Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11AM at the Frankfurt Book Fair
At this year’s session, you’ll get a first look at the updated and expanded draft standard, now shaped by global input and real-world testing. Whether you manage incoming statements or send them out, this is your opportunity to:
- Preview practical examples of the standard in use
- Share your perspective before the recommendations are finalized
- Help create a more consistent, efficient system across the rights ecosystem
If you work in rights, royalties, contracts, or publishing operations, don’t miss this chance to help shape a tool that benefits the entire global community. We need participants on all sides who will begin to adopt and practice these standards. The rewards are clear: less time wrangling data, more time with actionable insights, and deeper conversations about good books and good business.
Let’s turn pain points into progress—together. Register now.
BISG's Rights Committee helps develop, maintain, and advocate for industry-wide best practices designed to support a standardized electronic transmission of a defined set of rights information between trading partners. Accurately communicating rights information between parties can grow revenue, reduce transaction costs, and avoid costly errors.
