Posted By: Liz Bartek Announcements,

After 50 years of bringing the publishing industry together, it’s time to celebrate in a big way.

We’re thrilled to announce that tickets are now live for BISG's Book Publishing Next Forum & 50th Anniversary Reception, taking place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at The New York Historical in Manhattan.

This milestone event will gather colleagues from across the publishing ecosystem for a day that’s equal parts forward-looking conversation and well-deserved celebration—honoring the relationships, ideas, and collaboration that have shaped our industry for five decades.

For a limited time, attendees can take advantage of early bird ticket pricing through June 30.

A Brief Look at 50 Years of Impact

The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) has spent five decades helping the industry better understand itself through shared data, standards, and collaboration.

From BISAC subject codes and ONIX metadata standards to the 13-digit ISBN and Book Industry Trends, BISG’s work has helped modernize how books are described, discovered, distributed, and sold—bringing together publishers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, libraries, and partners to solve shared challenges.

The Book Publishing Next Forum & Anniversary Reception balances a look back at our history with a forward-looking view of the industry.

During the Forum, attendees will explore emerging ideas and strategies shaping the future of publishing, with a focus on improving supply chain communication and addressing new industry needs.

In the evening, the Anniversary Reception will bring everyone together for a lively, celebratory gathering—featuring delicious food and drink, reconnecting with colleagues, and honoring the people and partnerships behind BISG’s success.

Whether you’re joining us for the daytime Forum, the evening Reception, or both, an early bird ticket is the best opportunity to save.

Extend Your Stay: Continue the Conversation

If you’re planning to join us in New York, consider staying an extra day to attend Book Manufacturing Mastered, hosted by the Book Manufacturers’ Institute, on September 17.

This complementary event offers a deeper dive into manufacturing and production topics—making it a valuable opportunity to continue learning, connect with peers, and engage with another critical part of the publishing supply chain.

Organizations and individuals interested in sponsoring this event, contributing to a silent auction, hosting a BISG@50 Meet-Up, or participating in BISG@50 programming, are encouraged to contact Liz Bartek, Marketing and Communications Manager, at liz@bisg.org.
